American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification & Recertification Course

This class is for both full certification as well as recertification.
You must be able to attend every night of this class! There will be reading and prep work needed outside of class.
Maximum class size 10 for both Full certification & recertifications, first come first serve.
Dates to be finalized by instructor. Time of class will be 3:15 pm to 5:30 pm weekdays only.
Class will most likely start March 25th BUT THIS WILL BE CONFIRMED SOMETIME IN EARLY MARCH, flexibility and consideration for all student’s schedules will be considered by the instructor.
Prerequisite 1: Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest:
• Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed.)
• Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs.
• Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
Prerequisite 2: Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:
• Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. (The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.)
• Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 – 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface.
• Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
Class equipment: Supplied 2 adult CPR dummies, 2 infant CPR dummies, 1 AED simulator, 4 rescue tubes ∙ 1 ring buoy, 1 Sheppard’s hook or reaching pole, 2 backboards, first aid kit Required materials for each student (provided by instructor AND included in course fee): American Red Cross Lifeguarding course manual (online) American Red Cross Adult/Child and Infant CPR Mask American Red Cross certification cards (email copy) for lifeguarding/first aid and CPR/AED upon successful completion of course
