GREAT NEWS! I am pleased to announce that North Coventry Elementary School has once again been named a Title I Distinguished School by the PA Department of Education for the 2018-2019 School Year.
Title I is a 100% federally funded supplemental educational program that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies to improve learning opportunities. Title I programs are designed to help children meet the state content and performance standards in reading, language arts, and mathematics.
Each year, the Division of Federal Programs honors the top performing Title I schools in Pennsylvania. This year, they used the approved ESEA Flexibility Waiver designation of reward. Reward schools are defined as the highest 5% of Title I schools in PA that meet at least two of the following criteria (North Coventry met ALL of the criteria!).
-
Math and Reading PSSA scores
-
Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs)
-
Math and English Language Arts (ELA) Pennsylvania Value Added Assessment System (PVAAS) data
-
Attendance rates
This is a tremendous honor for our school. Thank you for your continued support of our DISTINGUISHED school.
The PA Department of Education selected 158 Title I schools (out of 912 schools) to be named Distinguished Schools based on the above criterion. The Pennsylvania Department of Education, Division of Federal Programs, will honor North Coventry Elementary School in January at the 2019 Title I Improving Schools’ Performance Conference in Pittsburgh.
